A talking lion, an icy and steely witch, and a most mysterious and spacious wardrobe

A caveat before reading on: Possible Spoilers!!!

Enter Narnia, a beautiful world created by the venerable literary genius, C.S. Lewis. I thought the movie was rather splendid. The sartorial grandeur and elegance of the landscape, especially the rolling plains where the final battle was fought, and the battle itself, were simply breathtaking.

The duel between Jadis the White Witch and Peter was well-choreographed. The White Witch was displaying an excellent mastery of her swords and it was a joy to watch the swordplay.

The final battle was grand and there was a plethora of mythical creatures. Satyrs, centaurs, minotaurs, gryphons were just some of the soldiers. Leopards and white Bengal tigers fought on opposing sides and polar bears were pulling the war-chariot of the White Witch.

I guess what made the whole plot brilliant was the encapsulation of the main ideas and concepts of the Protestant belief. Lewis cleverly epitomised the essence in Christanity and re-presented it in a way that is suitable for everyone, even, or rather, especially the children. Aslan's sacrifice to save Edmund and its resurrection is one good example. The part of the story where the wayward Edmund finally made good, gives hope to us that we can all have salvation that was promised to us and that we crave for. We need only to believe in Him.

God's grace

'Twas a fruitful day.

My research is finally going somewhere.

Found out that Oasis is coming to Singapore in February next year.

Also found out that there is a gym near my current office.

Met this nice lady twice today. Really made my day.

Of killing monsters and leveling-up

I guess I am lagging behind in terms of what is hot in the gaming world. Only started playing MapleStory this week. Lots of people are already playing it. Still a noob.

Though the game is in 2D, the characters and monsters are kind of adorable and the feature that allows one to customise one's character is what attracts many to the game. What attracts me is that I am able to interact with many like-minded gamers in the MapleStory world.

My character's level is still very low and I am trying to level-up quickly. Still trying to learn more about the game and the etiquette required (eg. no ksing, no looting or stealing). Got myself acquainted with a few honourable and helpful players and they became my buddies. Overall, a fun and interesting game.

Restart

This week marks the beginning of another epoch in my life.

A new working environment, new colleagues, new work timings, and dealing with new people. I am trying to take everything in and learn as much as I can. A lot of courtesy and respect has been given to me since Monday till now I am still not quite used to it.

I was learning from a very experienced officer yesterday. "We are like teachers," he said. Never thought I will be in the "teaching" profession. I guess both jobs are similar in the sense that both deal with moulding people, albeit the "people" involved are different.

No worries

Received a number of concerned messages and emails from friends who read my previous blog. To these concerned brothers and sisters, I am all right. I was just being melodramatic.

As you all may know, I have a penchant for grandiloquence and I guess what I wrote two days ago sent out shockwaves to all of you. That is why I chose this template for my blog. The black background reflects a certain amount of melancholy and somberness in my life.
